| The childbirth preparation program outlined in this book and in the classes, assigns each aspect of the B.E. P.A.R.E.N. T.S.acronym: ( Breathe, Encourage, Posture, Atmosphere, Rhythm, Eliminate, Nourish, Touch and Serenity ) to its own chapter/class, tying the whole concept together in a daily practice routine presented at the end of the book/class. This routine includes breathing techniques, partner yoga labor support postures, meditative practice, self growth exercises, stress/pain coping strategies and so much more! Each chapter/class discusses the topic and how it is helpful during everyday life, labor and parenting. Also included is the “why natural childbirth?” chapter, which covers the risks and benefits of medical interventions, an anatomy and stages of labor section, nutritional information, “green” living tips and options, a Mother blessing ceremony, lyrics to “One Big Heart”, life song for the new baby, postpartum care, new baby care, breastfeeding support and a resource directory. It is suggested that the book be utilized in conjunction with its accompanying instructional dvd and cd and with the hands on experience which can only be attained through taking the classes. |
| The dvd includes clips from a mother blessing ceremony and beautiful, instructional footage from a labor and home birth of a couple who hired the author as their childbirth educator and doula. You will also see an abridged version of the B.E. P.A.R.E.N.T.S. Routine (as taught in the book and the classes) performed by the couple, and brief interviews from the couple and their midwives post-partum. Also includes slide shows from various pregnancies, families and mother blessing ceremonies |
