Digital Agency Breathe has been chosen by Hospitality Action to be the Digital and Social partner on their “Chip In” campaign, focused on raising funds to help thousands of hospitality workers left in financial difficulties by Covid 19 lockdown.
Jeremy Gibson, Head of Marketing, Hospitality Action
Breathe has worked for over 5 years with Hospitality Action (HA) – the charity that supports all those working in Pubs, Bars, Restaurants and Hotels.
Having built a new website for the charity in 2019 – www.hospitalityaction.org.uk – Breathe was well placed to respond quickly to the effects of Covid 19 Lockdown. This has put many low paid Hospitality workers into severe and potentially long-term, financial hardship and a fundraising appeal was urgently needed.
Working in collaboration with the team at HA, in a matter of days, the concept of “Invisible Chips” was developed into a full-blown campaign and a new website was launched – www.invisiblechips.org.uk – on the day Pubs and Bars opened on 4th July 2020.
The initiative has received massive support from industry celebrities such as Tom Kerridge, Heston Blumenthal and Fred Sirieix and leading hospitality businesses such as BrewDog.
The campaign works in a beautifully simple way, allowing diners at 1,000’s of partner establishments to add a portion of “invisible chips” as a side dish to their order. The cost of the virtual food will all go to those in need via Hospitality Action – 0% fat, 100% charity.
As hospitality venues slowly get back to the new normal, donors will also be able to order “invisible chips” via the website and pay for invisible condiments and delivery via invisible drones.
The campaign is two-pronged targeting consumers to donate and businesses to get involved and sign up as a partner.
Breathe is also working on a social media campaign to build widespread support for the appeal and build a substantial fund to help support hospitality workers at this difficult time.
