This article from the BBC is an interesting snapshot on lockdown and the advertising trends. It is a comfort to digital agencies that digital spend will be somewhat protected moving forward and that brands will invest more heavily in lower cost digital campaigns.
What is also apparent is that production quality will be less of an issue –as we are more accustomed to influencers and bloggers giving us ‘real life’ content (with the odd filter!) We can expect to see bigger brands following suit. Many big brands used this technique throughout lockdown, using more ‘human’ footage. Vodafone, Tesco and Facebook all jumped on this trend – some great examples can be seen here https://www.thedrum.com/news/2020/07/21/creative-works-the-10-most-popular-ads-created-under-lockdown
Recently we did a campaign with our client Hospitality Action for Invisible Chips using high profile chefs from their home kitchens and restaurants (https://invisiblechips.org.uk/). We are also about to embark on several social media campaigns for brands that would have otherwise used their budget above the line. If we can help you get your brand noticed on-line take advantage of our free Digital Check-Up.
